Cultural Catch Up

We had two big cultural events last week, with the HBHS and HGHS Talent Quest on Wednesday the 26th of May, and the Smokefree Rockquest Regional Finals on Friday the 28th at Clarence Street Theatre.  The results of the Talent Quest were as follows:

1st - HGHS Hip Hop Dance Crew Rivalry

2nd - HBHS Band Albert Street

3rd - HGHS Solo Dancer Xanthea Kennard-Vogt

4th - HBHS Singer & Pianist Udula Bandara

5th - HGHS Singer & Trumpet Player Halle Aish

Congratulations to all of these performers on their efforts.

On Friday, HBHS & Hamilton Christian School band Albert Street took out first place at the Smokefree Rockquest, with HBHS & Hillcrest High School band UnOfficial finishing in second place.  The ZM Best Song Award was won by Lee Panui of UnOfficial with "Running" and Albert Street won the Rockshop Electronic Performance Award for Best Use of Electronic Music.  Both of these bands will now have the opportunity to submit a video entry in order to qualify for the National Smokefree Rockquest Finals, and we wish them every success in this endeavour.  Kia kaha to our performers!
