HBHS win medals galore at New Zealand Secondary Schools Swimming Championships

The HBHS Swimming team has had a superb weekend of competition at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Swimming Championships, held over the 17th and 18th of October at Waterworld, Te Rapa.  The team won 9 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze medals which meant that they were named the Top Boys’ School and Top Boys Relay Team school in the country.  Congratulations to all of these athletes on these exceptional results, and thanks and congratulations to Teacher in Charge of Swimming, Mr Rahiti Teokotai-White.

Individual Medal Winners:

Matthew Bruning (Year 9) 14 years:  Gold 50m Butterfly, Silver 50m Backstroke.

Joshua Edwards (Year 10) 14 years:  Silver 100m Freestyle, Bronze 50m Freestyle

David So (Year 10) 15 years:  Gold 50m Breastroke, Gold 50m Freestyle, Gold 50m Butterfly, Gold 100m Breastroke, Silver 100m Individual Medley.

Elijah Singleton (Year 10) 15 years:  Silver 200m Breastroke.

Dominic Fawkner (Year 11) 16 years:  Silver 200m Freestyle, Silver 400m Freestyle, Bronze 100m Freestyle.

Caleb Thomas (Year 13) 17 years:  Silver 200m Breaststroke.

 

Junior Relay Medal Winners:

Gold in the 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay:  Hunter Read, David So, Matthew Bruning and Joshua Edwards.

Bronze in the 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay:  Hunter Read, David So, Matthew Bruning and Joshua Edwards.

Bronze in the 200m Medley Relay:  Hunter Read, David So, Matthew Bruning and Joshua Edwards.

 

Senior Relay Medal Winners:

Gold in the 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay:  Carlos Hardie, Ciaran Watson, Dominic Fawkner and Kale Twist.

Gold in the 8 x 50m Freestyle Relay:  Caleb Parsons, Caleb Thomas, Carlos Hardie, Ciaran Watson, David So, Dominic Fawkner, Kale Twist and Joshua Edwards.

Silver in the 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay:  Caleb Parsons, Carlos Hardie, Dominic Fawkner and Kale Twist.

Bronze in the 2 x 50m Freestyle Relay:  Carlos Hardie and Kale Twist.
