Tena koutou katoa e te whanau
On Thursday we farewelled our Senior school, as they left to begin study leave after a wonderful week of celebrations. It has been very special, seeing the Senior school adapt to the changing expectations and restrictions, and I have never felt prouder to be a part of this wonderful school. A very genuine thank you to all of our families for your support and care through the challenges of the past four weeks. We were able to finish so well, and while we missed the full ceremony of prize giving, what we did share was both unique and very moving.
And, as we begin Week 5 of our final term, we are delighted to learn that we will be returning to Alert Level 2 for the start of school on Wednesday.
This will mean that our Year 9 and 10 students can return to school after four and a half weeks of working online, to a more normal end of year.
I will be emailing more details of the return, and of the specifics of the weeks ahead tomorrow. However, I write this evening to reinforce our goal of ensuring a very quick, focussed return for our students as they return to class, in preparation for Year 10 examinations and Year 9 assessments.
Please ensure that your son spends tomorrow preparing for his return on Wednesday, and that you share with him our protocols and expectations when we post them tomorrow.
I am excited that we are able to welcome these young men back to school for the final three and a half weeks - and every day of the rest of the year counts, in so many ways. For me, it has to be happy, joyful and filled with determination and hard work!
We will contact you tomorrow with more detail of our planned return to school, including health and safety priorities, and our calendar for the final month of term.
Thank you for the lovely stories of endeavour I received from you about your special young men; they made my day, and were well received and greatly appreciated.
All the very best as we return to Alert Level 2, whatever it means for your family!

Covid-19 Vaccination Register
All schools are now required to keep a register of all Covid-19 vaccinated and unvaccinated students attending their school.
This requirement to maintain a register has been issued by the Secretary for Education, under the Education and Training Act 2020.
The Direction requires all registered schools who enrol students over the age of 12 years to maintain an up-to-date register with the Covid-19 vaccination status of eligible students, beginning Monday, 1 November.
To enable us to have accurate records, we would appreciate it if you would provide us with evidence of your son's Covid-19 vaccination. Can you please send this information to us by Friday, 12 November.
Evidence could include:
- a screenshot of their vaccination record on My Covid Record (for those 16 and over)
- a vaccination certificate (which can be requested from the Ministry of Health)
- a letter from their GP
Please DO NOT bring this into school. Please email a scan or photo of these details to firstname.lastname@example.org
A Privacy Statement which has been issued to Schools by the Ministry of Education regarding our Vaccine Register, is available on request.
Thank you very much for your support, in ensuring that we are able to complete this requirement.

Covid-19 Reminders during Level 3
Tena koutou katoa e te whanau,
Just a few reminders concerning Level 3 conditions at Hamilton Boys' High School:-
- Parents, Caregivers and extended family are not to come onsite while we are at Level 3.
- Students are to come to the Health Centre if they are feeling unwell and staff will contact parents to collect their sons.
- Students need to sign in at the Student Services Centre if they are late and sign out at the Student Services Centre before they leave the school grounds during school time. This is normal practice throughout the school year and there is no change to that system during this time.
- The Ministry of Health has recommended that masks should be washed on a daily basis.
We appreciate that it is an unusual time at present and would like to thank our school community for the support that they are giving to Hamilton Boys' High School.

Please check your sons' school email for the Photolife email and you will be able to follow the process to view and order photos from there.
Please also note that because of the Covid Alert Level restrictions, any photos ordered will incur a $6.00 postage charge and be sent directly to your home address.
