Message from the Headmaster, Thursday 10 March 2022
Tena koutou e te whānau
It has certainly been an interesting few weeks, as we manage the challenges of having so many staff and students in isolation as household contacts, or isolating with COVID. I have been so impressed by the response of our boys, as they carry on, as usual, positive and happy, content in being able to attend school as usual for most of the week. They are amazing!
Thank you for supporting us in our strategy of rostering home one year level a day, over the past week. It has made a significant difference in our capacity to maintain the momentum of teaching and learning which is so critical at this early stage of the year.
We have made the decision, based on the continuing level of absences, that we will continue the rostering home until the end of Wednesday next week, (16 March). This means that we will have completed two cycles of the rotation at this point. Week 7 will thus follow the following structure:
Monday 14 March
Teacher Development Day, so NO students to attend
Tuesday, 15 March
Year 10 students rostered home, with supervision available for students of essential workers
Wednesday, 16th March
Year 11 students rostered home.
Thursday, 17th and Friday, 18th
To be confirmed early next week
I will contact you again as early as possible next week, with further decisions on whether we will have to continue with the current structure. I appreciate your flexibility in this strategy, as we do want to move back to a normal programme for all students as quickly as possible. However, the situation is changing daily, and we do not know what the next few days will bring! So we do value your patience, in what is a difficult time for all, on so many levels. Thank you for your continued understanding.
As always, please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have concerns for your son, or if there is anything we can do to support him at this unique time.
